PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Beginning this week, the City of West Point will commence electric line right-of-way clearing. Work will start this week in the northern portions of West Point. Electric line right-of-way clearing will be performed by W.A. Kendall, who has for over 60 years has provided vegetation management services to rural electric co-ops, investor-owned utilities, and public municipal utilities across the Southeastern United States.

The City of West Point is committed to providing our customers with safe and reliable electricity, and the City conducts rights-of-way tree trimming on a three-year cycle to reduce outages caused by trees and vegetation growth.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this information, please don’t hesitate to give us a call at (662) 494-2262.

District 4 Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan

District 4 Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan which includes Clay County will be available for viewing February 11th, 2025.

Hazard mitigation planning reduces loss of life and property by minimizing the impact of
disasters. It begins with state, tribal and local governments identifying natural disaster risks
and vulnerabilities that are common in their area. After identifying these risks, they develop
long-term strategies for protecting people and property from similar events. Mitigation plans
are key to breaking the cycle of disaster damage and reconstruction.
